What do you understand By Pigmentation Treatment?

Pigmentation treatment refers to a procedure used to treat and reduce the appearance of dark spots, uneven skin tone, and hyperpigmentation caused by various factors such as sun damage, hormonal changes or imbalances, inflammation, or aging.

Since there cr various causes of pigmentation, to treat those causes various treatments have been derived. Some of the treatments are mentioned below:

  1. Topical Treatments: This treatment includes hydroquinone, Retinoids (Tretinoin, Adapalene), vitamin C, azelaic acid, kojic acid, and niacinamide. These topical treatments help in reducing excessive melanin production, antioxidant properties of vitamin C, and inhibit melanin production. Acids like konjac acid and azelaic acid inhibit tyrosinase.
  2. Chemical Peels: This treatment includes glycolic acid peels, salicylic acid peels, and lactic acid peels. Which helps in exfoliating dead skin, penetrates oil glands to exfoliate, breaks down melanin,  and creates micro-injuries to stimulate skin renewal.
  3. Light-based treatments: In this treatment, intense pulsed light (IPL) is used to target pigment and rescue its visibility.
